Director's Note
Loneliness can be a choice, but it can also be overcome.
It all began with me writing an article for SFI’s (Swedish for Immigrants) magazine about loneliness being one of the most dangerous health issues for immigrants and refugees. Throughout the process of filming, it became my own solution to this challenge.
The life of a newcomer is always difficult, even in a country as welcoming as Sweden. You leave behind friends, family, memories, and habits. While those left behind may miss you, and those who welcome you may not be as warm as you hoped, this is your new reality. The loneliness experienced by millions who leave their homes for a safer or better life can be either chosen or imposed, but it will be overcome.
Hang in there!
